Crutchfield, a company whose name is synonymous with quality in consumer electronics, has donated two-way radios to the Stanardsville Independence Day Committee for the second straight year. This generous donation means improved communication for the volunteers who organize the Red, White, Blue ‘n Greene as well as improved public safety.
Two years ago, one of our guests had a serious health emergency. While CERT and the Greene County Sherriff’s Office provided swift support and the woman’s life was saved by their actions, our volunteers’ internal communication was limited by the use of cell phones which facilitated person-to-person communication paths.
All that has changed thanks to Crutchfield! Now, with the click of a single button, all team members can understand what is going on and how to react should an emergency occur or an unsafe situation be observed.
The goal of the SIDC is to bring community together. As such, the committee has loaned the two-way radios to other community events to improve their communication and safety as well. The Pottery Festival and the Parade of Lights are two such examples.
If your community event could benefit from using these radios, you may apply to borrow them by contacting the SIDC at (540) 290-8344 or by emailing info@RWBnG.org.
